The UAW is an equal opportunity employer. UAW Black Lake is seeking an experienced Human Resource Director to lead and support our HR operations. This role is essential in fostering a positive workplace culture, supporting employees, and aligning HR strategies with business goals. The Human Resource Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the organization's administrative and human resources functions. This includes overseeing HR policies, employee relations, collective bargaining agreements, recruitment, and compliance initiatives. Additionally, the HR Director will collaborate closely with executive leadership to support strategic planning and organizational growth. As a vital link between management and employees, the HR Director will serve as a trusted advisor, ensuring effective communication, alignment with company goals, and a strong, inclusive workplace culture. Key Responsibilities Manages the relationship between management and unionized employees Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy Support organizational change initiatives by developing and executing change management plans; communicate changes effectively and support team members throughout transitions Oversee and manage the recruitment and selection process, including job postings, resume screening, and interviews Build relationships with local staffing agencies, and community organizations to promote job opportunities Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth transitions Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, open enrollment, and employee support Act as liaison with benefits brokers; manage plan documentation, conduct audits, and evaluate wellness initiatives Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws by reviewing and updating HR policies and practices Conduct regular audits of HR processes and records to ensure accuracy and compliance Maintain accurate and organized employee records Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution Foster a supportive workplace through engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and employee surveys Collaborate with department leaders to identify staffing needs and develop workforce planning strategies Conduct skills gap analyses and support training and career development initiatives Stay current on HR trends and best practices to attract and retain top talent Oversee the performance review process, including setting standards, conducting evaluations, and coaching Support HR operational requirements by scheduling, assigning, and following up on work results Evaluate benefit needs and trends; recommend programs, manage vendor selection, and educate employees on available benefits Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting in other areas to support operations and team needs Training managers on union contracts and providing guidance on discipline and employee relations within a unionized setting Qualifications & Requirements Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Human Resources Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field Proven experience as an HR Generalist, HR Manager, or in a similar role Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws Demonstrated ability to align HR strategies with business objectives Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities Experience with HR systems (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) Strong organizational and time management skills
