Job Description

Summary The Human Resources Generalist, reporting to the VP of Organizational Development, is responsible for performing a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, performance management, compliance, and implementation of HR policies. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees and managers, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and assisting with HR alignment to organizational goals. Other duties may be assigned such as assisting with plant operations, facilities, and plant safety programs. Key Responsibilities Recruitment & Onboarding Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and maintain job descriptions.
Manage full-cycle recruitment:
sourcing, screening, interviewing, and extending offers. Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure a smooth new hire experience. Employee Relations Serve as a trusted first line advisor to managers and employees on HR-related matters. Address employee concerns, assist with investigations, and recommend resolutions. Drive strategic workplace culture and employee engagement initiatives. Coordinate offboarding activities to ensure smooth transition at separation. Performance Management Support performance review processes and goal-setting initiatives. Coach managers on performance improvement plans and corrective actions. Track and maintain performance documentation. Compensation & Benefits Administer employee benefits programs and respond to benefits inquiries. Support compensation benchmarking and salary review processes. Compliance & Policy Administration Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Provide insights to employee handbook and HR policies. Prepare HR reports and maintain confidential employee files. Assist with injury reporting, worker's compensation, and OSHA requirements Support company safety program, complete JSA's, and root cause analysis. Support audits and regulatory reporting requirements. Training & Development Coordinate employee training programs and assist with professional development initiatives. Identify skills gaps and recommend learning opportunities. Assist with succession planning efforts. Administration, Payroll & HR Systems Assist with payroll coordination, processing, and accuracy of employee records. Maintain applicant tracking systems and recruitment metrics. Ensure correct HRIS New Hire setup and access. Maintain accurate data control through internal audits and review. Education & Experience 1-2 years relevant HR experience with a degree in Human Resources, Organizational Leadership, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 3-5 years relevant progressive HR experience without a degree. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred. Proficient Bi-lingual Spanish with ability to read/write/speak strongly preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of employment laws and HR best practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong organization and time-management, working independently with minimal to moderate guidance. Exposure to HRIS systems and competency with Microsoft Office Suite. Problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities. Work Environment Office based, onsite Exposure to fresh and frozen food processing plant operations, potential cold/loud environment. May require occasional travel or extended hours during peak periods. Physical Requirements Ability to frequently walk the production floor, warehouse, and administrative areas, which may require extended periods of standing (up to 4-6 hours at a time). Ability to navigate industrial environments that may include stairs, ladders, narrow walkways, and uneven surfaces. Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to cold (refrigerated areas), heat, humidity, moisture, and moderate to high noise levels. Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as hairnets, hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, lab coats, and/or gloves. Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds (e.g., employee files, training materials, onboarding supplies). Manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment (computer, keyboard, copier) as well as time clocks or HRIS kiosks located on the production floor. Ability to conduct facility walk-throughs, safety observations, investigations, and employee meetings in production areas. Must be able to respond promptly to on-site employee relations or safety matters within the plant. Ability to sit for extended periods while performing administrative duties. Visual and auditory ability to observe working conditions, review documentation, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment. May require flexibility to work occasionally early mornings, evenings, weekends, or shifts aligned with production schedules. Pay:
