Job Description

JOB TITLE
Human Resources Specialist
DEPARTMENT
Human Resources STATUS Part-Time 12-15 hours per week in the morning/approximately 3 hours per day
COMPENSATION
Non-Exempt. $26.00 to $33.00 per hour
LOCATION
On-site Kalamazoo
JOB SUMMARY
Provide support to the organization, related to administering, processing documentation and record keeping, of HR related topics. Work on HR projects and continuous improvement of HR procedures and practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage employee data, ensuring the accuracy of new hire, employee changes, benefits, attendance, wages, etc.
  • Support recruiting and onboarding by coordinating schedules, background checks and preparing new hire/benefit packets.
  • Utilize and update HRIS and other HR platforms with employment changes to support recognition administration, performance tracking, safety tracking/PPE, and discipline administration.
  • Support payroll processing and administration. Compiles and provides accounting payroll data and keeps payroll files up to date. Checks time-worked inputs for calculating, coding, or other errors and makes applicable changes.
  • Supports the administration of Family Medical, Short Term and Long-Term Leaves.
  • Support the resolution of employees who have policy, time, pay, and other payroll matters such as garnishments, court orders, and notarization.
  • Support the administration of open enrollment, yearend & new year review of employee benefits.
  • Leads the review and submittal of monthly benefit invoices.
  • Prepare routine and non-routine special reports including gathering/summarizing data and analysis.
  • Assist in projects, such as HR events, benefits open enrollment, employee communications and company-wide meetings.
  • Coordinate training/development and culture/team building activities.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or GED. 3+ years administrative experience required in HR. HRIS, payroll and Human Resources experience required.   • Ability to prioritize with high attention to detail.
  • High organization skills and initiative, anticipating future needs and next steps/processes.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word, Outlook) and using technology to complete work efficiently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to facilitate/manage group conflict/pushback.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Pay:
$26.00 - $33.00 per hour
