The business sits where hospitality, real estate, and marine services meet, and is consolidating a historically fragmented industry into a professionally run platform while preserving what makes each marina feel local. Southern Marinas is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to lead the people function for the organization. This is a newly created role designed for a builder — a leader who brings vision to an HR function with substantial room to grow, and the agility to design programs and then execute them personally. The Vice President will shape policy and compliance infrastructure, launch training and development programs, lead corporate talent acquisition, and build the long-range people strategy that supports the company's growth. This is a strategic seat with meaningful operational content, well suited to a leader who is energized by the opportunity to build and evolve HR framework within an organization. Strategic Leadership & Program Development Serve as the senior Human Resources leader Build HR programs, infrastructure, and standards across the organization, prioritizing the initiatives that deliver the greatest impact Translate business strategy into workforce planning, organizational design, and staffing models Champion company culture and values across a geographically distributed organization Establish HR metrics and reporting on headcount, turnover, labor cost, and organizational health Operate with agility across competing priorities, moving between long-range planning and hands-on execution as the business requires Policy, Compliance & Risk Management Develop, modernize, and maintain the employee handbook and companywide policy library Lead workplace investigations and establish consistent standards for documentation, resolution, and follow-through Partner with Operations on workplace safety, OSHA readiness, workers' compensation claims management, and return-to-work programs Proactively identify areas of HR risk exposure and lead remediation efforts Learning & Development Design and launch companywide training and development programs Build leadership development pathways for home office department heads and marina General Managers Establish compliance, safety, and role-specific training standards across the organization Create career development and performance management frameworks Talent Acquisition Lead full-cycle recruiting strategy for home office positions across marketing, operations, accounting, and finance Partner with executive and regional leadership on General Manager searches, contributing to candidate assessment and selection Conduct initial candidate screens, evaluating professional qualifications alongside behavioral and cultural fit Develop structured interview frameworks, assessment criteria, and consistent hiring standards for corporate roles Manage relationships with external search partners, job boards, and local sourcing channels Design the company's onboarding experience, including a structured 30/60/90 day framework Build an internal application and mobility process that supports career growth across the organization Develop succession plans for home office leadership and General Manager positions Partner with marina leadership on hiring standards and practices; day-to-day seasonal and hourly staffing at the property level is managed by the marinas HR Operations, Systems & Total Rewards Oversee the HR technology stack including HRIS, payroll, applicant tracking, onboarding, and performance platforms; evaluate, select, and implement systems as the company scales Own benefits strategy, annual renewal negotiation, and broker relationships Provide backup support for payroll processing as needed Organizational Growth & Integration Lead people-related diligence and Day-1 integration for acquisitions, including census and compensation review, benefits and payroll transition, policy harmonization, and employee communications Develop a repeatable integration playbook that supports consistent execution as the portfolio expands Team Leadership Build the Human Resources team structure as the organization grows Advise managers and department heads on employee relations, performance management, and organizational design QualificationsRequired Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role Experience as Sr. Director of Human Resources, VP of HR, or equivalent. Demonstrated success building HR programs, policies, and infrastructure rather than administering established ones Strong working expertise in HR compliance and risk management Multi-state employment law knowledge, including Florida Proven ability to operate both strategically and hands-on, setting direction and executing personally Experience owning talent acquisition, including candidate screening and assessment Excellent communication, interpersonal, and executive advisory skills Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and decision-making abilities Preferred Hospitality, marine, restaurant, club, or resort industry background Experience supporting a multi-site or geographically distributed workforce Exposure to hourly, seasonal, or field-based employee populations Experience scaling Human Resources within a private equity-backed or high-growth organization Track record of designing and launching training and development programs HRIS selection or implementation experience Mergers and acquisitions people diligence and integration experience Familiarity with workplace safety, workers' compensation, and OSHA in an operating environment SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field Working Conditions This position is based on-site at the Southern Marinas home office in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, with expected in-office presence four days per week. Periodic travel to marina properties is expected. The role manages multiple projects simultaneously and requires independent judgment, adaptability, and the ability to move between long-range planning and hands-on execution.
