Assistant Vice President for Talent, Culture, and Human Resources
St. Ambrose University and the Mount Mercy University campus seek a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as Assistant Vice President for Talent, Culture, and Human Resources. This senior leadership role oversees all HR functions across a growing multi-institution university network.
The AVP will partner closely with executive leadership to drive talent excellence, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and foster a high-performing, mission-driven culture across institutions.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on workforce strategy, organizational design, and talent initiatives
Lead a comprehensive talent strategy including recruitment, onboarding, retention, succession planning, and leadership development
Oversee employee experience initiatives, engagement strategies, and employee relations processes
Direct total rewards programs, including compensation, benefits, and workforce planning
Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, Title IX, EEO)
Optimize HR operations, systems, and analytics across multiple campuses
Lead organizational development, performance management, and professional development programs
Provide leadership for HR teams across institutions and support future growth and integration opportunities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
Demonstrated expertise in talent management, organizational development, and employment law compliance
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications
Proven ability to influence and partner with executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree (MBA, MHR, or related field)
Higher education, nonprofit, or multi-entity experience
SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification
Experience leading HR functions across multiple campuses or organizations
