Benefits Coordinator
Job Description
Description We are looking for a Benefits Administrator who will manage the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, and serve as a key point of contact for employees with benefits and leave-related questions for a San Diego non-profit. This role requires strong organizational skills, confidentiality, and a commitment to supporting employees in a compassionate and professional manner. Key Responsibilities
+ Administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness offerings.
+ Support employee enrollments, changes, and terminations in benefits systems.
+ Serve as the primary contact for employee questions regarding benefits eligibility, coverage, and claims issues.
+ Coordinate leave of absence support, including FMLA, ADA, parental leave, medical leave, personal leave, and other applicable leave programs.
+ Track leave requests, required documentation, approvals, return-to-work dates, and benefit continuation while employees are on leave.
+ Partner with Human Resources, payroll, and external vendors to ensure accurate deductions, billing, and leave administration.
+ Maintain benefits records and prepare reports related to enrollments, audits, and compliance.
+ Assist with open enrollment planning, employee communications, and benefits education.
+ Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits and leave administration.
+ Support ongoing process improvements and special projects within the HR function. Requirements Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. + 2+ years of experience in benefits administration and/or HR support.
+ Experience managing or supporting leave of absence administration required.
+ Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, and other relevant benefits and leave regulations.
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality.
+ Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
+ Excellent communication and customer service skills.
+ Experience in a nonprofit environment is a plus.
