This position serves as the primary benefits contact for priests, providing confidential and responsive assistance with healthcare coverage, Medicare, retirement, retiree healthcare, claims, and benefit-related needs during health and life transitions. The Benefits Coordinator may also support employee benefits, leave administration, open enrollment, HRIS records, and limited backup payroll processing. Serve as the primary and confidential benefits contact for active and retired priests. Administer priest benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, Medicare, supplemental insurance, and retiree healthcare. Assist priests with benefit eligibility, enrollment, coverage questions, claims, appeals, required documentation, and applicable deadlines. Coordinate Medicare enrollment, supplemental coverage, retirement transitions, and retiree healthcare benefits. Provide compassionate administrative assistance during hospitalizations, rehabilitation stays, and transitions to assisted-living or extended-care settings. Coordinate benefit and coverage matters with priests, authorized family members or contacts, insurance carriers, healthcare contacts, vendors, and Archdiocesan leadership. Track unresolved claims, coverage questions, and benefit issues through resolution or appropriate escalation. Escalate complex benefit, leave, eligibility, or care-coordination matters to HR or Archdiocesan leadership. Maintain accurate and confidential records while obtaining appropriate authorization before sharing protected information. Support employee benefits administration, leave programs, annual open enrollment, and benefit communications. Maintain accurate benefit, leave, retirement, and payroll-related information in the HRIS and vendor systems. Review benefit invoices, eligibility records, carrier information, and payroll deductions for accuracy. Coordinate with benefit carriers, brokers, retirement providers, and third-party administrators. May provide limited backup payroll processing and assist with routine payroll questions and discrepancies. Qualifications Associate degree in human resources, business administration, healthcare administration, accounting, or a related field required. Bachelor's degree preferred. At least three years of relevant experience in benefits administration, Human Resources, leave administration, payroll support, healthcare coordination, or employee services. Experience with Medicare, retiree healthcare, retirement transitions, benefits, payroll processing, or nonprofit and faith-based organizations is preferred. Working knowledge of benefits administration, benefit eligibility, enrollment, leave programs, and HRIS or benefits systems. General understanding of payroll processes or willingness to become fully trained. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, HRIS, benefits/retirement software. Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and customer-service skills. Ability to assist priests and employees with patience, discretion, professionalism, and compassion. Ability to manage sensitive health and benefit information while maintaining strict confidentiality. Sound judgment and the ability to recognize when a matter requires escalation.
