Job Description
- Informs new, current and terminating employees of benefits, to include life, health and dental insurance, Flexible Spending Plans, Health Savings Accounts and pre-tax deductions; assists with new employee orientation.
- Assists retirees with benefit enrollment.
- Plans, develops and coordinates implementation and monitoring of county wellness programs; participates as member of the Wellness Committee. Directs implementation of wellness related activities to include health screenings, Lunch and Learn classes, Bloodmobile, flu-shots and fitness classes, etc.
- Provides plan administration, creates participant communications and customer service regarding benefit plans; counsels employees and retirees regarding their coverage and options in accordance with established policies and practices.
- Administers COBRA notifications and ensures compliance for dental insurance; coordinates and tracks COBRA payments for medical premiums.
- Plans and implements the open enrollment process and the distribution of benefits enrollment materials; determines eligibility and ensures the accuracy of benefit enrollments.
- Assists employees with benefits claims issues and plan changes; processes Qualifying Life Events (QLEs) status changes.
- Assists with benefit contract monitoring and renewals.
- Responds to inquiries regarding plan provisions, benefits enrollment, status changes and other questions.
- Processes and administers disability paperwork.
- Assists Payroll as needed.
- Maintains department website and intranet pages.
- Maintains, updates and ensures the integrity of the department's filing system, both electronic and paper.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
