Grand Rapids, MI Job Summary:
Reporting to the HR Manager, the PayrollBenefits Specialist plays a key role in administering employee payroll, benefits, and related compliance processes. This position ensures accurate and timely payroll execution, manages benefit programs, supports employees through benefit inquiries, and maintains compliance with federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and able to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality. Job Responsibilities (including, but not limited to): Payroll Administration Execute payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Monitor the payroll email inbox and respond or escalate inquiries as appropriate. Download payroll reports from iSolved weekly. Manage driver's license and direct deposit updates. Assist with employment verifications. Process monthly union benefits and weekly 401(k) payments. Create certified payroll reports. Execute employee pay changes in accordance with internal procedures. Download W-2 forms annually for all employees. Deliver the annual payroll schedule and company holiday calendar. Benefits Administration Act as the administrator for employee health insurance benefits and 401(k) plan. Field employee benefit questions, providing guidance and consulting with the HR Manager when necessary. Execute open enrollment for employee benefits, including communication, system updates, and employee support. ComplianceDocumentation Execute FMLA, UIA, and withholding paperwork. Manage notices received by mail related to payroll tax, benefits, or compliance. Maintain organized and accurate documentation across payroll and benefits systems.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Experience in payroll processing and benefits administration strongly preferred. Working knowledge of payroll systems; experience with iSolved a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent communication skills and ability to work professionally with employees at all levels. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accuracy. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
