Job Description

The Benefits Specialist administers the organization's employee benefits programs, to include health and wellbeing, retirement and supplemental offerings. The Specialist assists employees in understanding the various benefits and retirement programs and processes and ensures compliance with state and federal regulations. The Specialist organizes and oversees new employee orientation and annual Open Enrollment for guidance on the benefits elections and programs. Administers the organizational benefits programs Provides assistance and guidance to employees on the organization's benefit programs and applicable eligibility requirements Responds to employee and plan provider requests for information regarding benefits plans Maintains records and databases related to benefit plan participation or contribution Processes benefit events and changes in Benefits Administration within the HR System, elevating complex issues to the Benefits Analyst as necessary Acts as liaison between employees and vendors to resolve benefit-related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee experience Assists in the administration of the tuition reimbursement program Completes retirement benefit calculations upon requests, and meets with employees as necessary to discuss retirement options and estimates Organizes and oversees employee benefit events Conducts new hire orientation, providing benefit information and guidance for new hires related to eligibility, costs, and coverage, facilitating the benefit enrollment process Facilitates employee open enrollment process by creating schedules, coordinating vendor attendance, updating benefits documents, and ensuring distribution of enrollment materials Creates and maintains benefits handbooks, handouts, correspondence and other necessary forms Responds to and resolves all employee inquiries Coordinates employee benefit changes with Payroll and all plan providers, ensuring accurate and timely processing Advises on eligibility, costs, coverage and provides information related to employee benefits upon request
Education:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field of study
Preferred:
Master's Degree in
Human Resources or Business Experience:
Required:
Two (2) years administering employee benefits and retirement programs
Preferred:
Experience administering benefits' programs within a self-insured environment, experience using a
Benefits Management System Skills:
