Job Title:
Benefits Coordinator Job Description The Benefits Coordinator provides high-volume administrative and employee support to the Human Resources Benefits team during a busy open enrollment period. This hybrid role based in Bethlehem, PA focuses on serving as the first point of contact for employees and retirees with benefits questions while assisting with open enrollment testing, communications review, and training material preparation. The position initially requires approximately 40 hours per week, with potential reduction in hours as open enrollment activity decreases, and plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth and accurate benefits enrollment experience. Responsibilities + Serve as the primary point of contact for employee and other benefits questions via phone and email. + Respond to inquiries related to medical, dental, and vision plans, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), dependent eligibility and enrollment, and life event and spouse/dependent enrollment changes. + Use existing FAQs and knowledge resources to provide timely, accurate, and consistent responses to benefits-related questions. + Escalate complex or sensitive benefits issues to internal Benefits team members when appropriate. + Assist with open enrollment testing activities to ensure systems and processes function correctly. + Review employee benefits communications for accuracy, consistency, clarity, and grammatical correctness. + Support the preparation, formatting, and quality review of training materials and computer-based training (CBT) content related to benefits and open enrollment. + Verify that training content aligns with approved scripts, messaging, and benefits communications. + Assist with open enrollment preparation, implementation, and follow-up activities, including tracking issues and supporting resolution. + Provide general administrative support to the Benefits team during peak enrollment periods, including data entry, documentation, and record maintenance. + Maintain a high level of confidentiality when working with employee information and benefits records. + Manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced HR environment while delivering high-quality employee support. Essential Skills + 1-2+ years of experience in Benefits, Human Resources, Employee Services, or related administrative support roles. + Previous benefits administration or benefits coordination experience. + Previous exposure to open enrollment activities. + Experience supporting employees with benefits-related questions via phone and email. + Strong customer service and employee support skills. + Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. + Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. + Comfort with learning and navigating HR systems and benefits platforms. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Strong attention to detail and ability to review documents for accuracy and quality. + Administrative support experience in a professional environment. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. + High level of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience as a Benefits Coordinator, HR Coordinator, Benefits Administrator, HR Assistant, Leave Administration specialist, or Employee Services professional. + Experience answering employee questions regarding benefit plans and enrollment processes. + Workday experience or familiarity with similar HRIS and benefits platforms. + Previous experience working in a fast-paced HR or benefits environment. + Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required. Work Environment This role supports the HR Benefits team during one of its busiest times of the year, with a strong focus on open enrollment activities. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., initially at approximately 40 hours per week, with the possibility of reduced hours in November and December as open enrollment activity slows. The work environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and highly employee-focused, emphasizing customer service, accuracy, and responsive support. The position offers a flexible schedule within a hybrid work model, with a preference for candidates who can be on-site in the Allentown, PA office 1-2 days per week, while fully remote candidates may be considered. The role involves regular interaction with employees, retirees, and internal HR team members and requires consistent use of HR systems, benefits platforms, and standard office software in a professional office setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Bethlehem, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
