Currently, we are looking for a Payroll and Compensation Analyst in our Detroit Office. In addition to our Corporate Detroit Office, we have offices in Chicago, IL, Grand Rapids, Bloomfield Hills, Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Washington D.C. JOB SUMMARY
The Payroll and Compensation Analyst provides analytical, financial, and operational support for the payroll team for both employee and attorney populations. This position is responsible for payroll and compensation analysis, budgeting and forecasting support, account reconciliations and report creation and maintenance. This position collaborates closely with the Tax Department and Financial Planning & Analysis group to ensure accurate financial management and strategic compensation planning. This position also provides backup coverage for payroll processing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll and Compensation Analysis Analyze payroll data for diverse populations including employees and attorney partners and identify trends, variances, and discrepancies. Research and resolve payroll issues and exceptions with meticulous attention to detail. Support comprehensive payroll audits and compliance activities. Budgeting and Forecasting Assist with payroll budgeting and labor cost forecasting. Partner with FP&A team to integrate compensation forecasts into overall company budgeting and planning processes. Prepare payroll expense reports and variance analyses. Support financial and senior leadership with payroll-related financial data. Account Reconciliations Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts. Review payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, and benefit accounts for accuracy. Report discrepancies to Senior Manager so a resolution can be made in a timely manner. Reporting Develop and maintain payroll reports and dashboards. Generate recurring and ad hoc reports for senior leadership, Human Resources, and Financial Services. Validate data accuracy and support reporting requests. Payroll Processing Backup Support Provide ADP support for payroll processing and assist when needed. Stay up to speed on sources of data and calculations needed to perform a scheduled payroll process.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, Data Science or related field preferred. Experience in data organization, collection & analytics. Strong analytical, reporting, and Excel skills. Knowledge of accounting and reconciliation processes. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines. Strong attention to detail and communication skills. Prior experience in ADP or another payroll systems a plus.

The anticipated annual pay range for this role is $75,000 to $95,000 (exempt). The actual offered pay rate will be determined based on various factors, including qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and internal equity considerations.
