Job Description

OpSource Direct is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Specialist for a client in Gray Court, SC.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will play a crucial role in managing payroll processing and benefits administration for employees at the Illinois and South Carolina manufacturing plants. This position is vital for ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations while adhering to state and federal regulations. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with payroll systems, in particular ADP, and an understanding of employee benefits. In this role, the Payroll & Benefits Specialist including the administration of health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other employee perks. They will assist in facilitating employee enrollment in benefits programs, manage changes to coverage, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. The specialist will also assist in conducting regular benefits orientation sessions to educate employees about their options, assist with claims processing, and respond to inquiries regarding benefits eligibility and coverage details. As a key resource for employees, the Payroll and Benefits Specialist will address payroll inquiries and provide guidance on benefits options, enhancing the overall employee experience and contributing to a supportive workplace culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Accurately process payroll for all employees using ADP software, ensuring timely payment of wages. Maintain employee payroll records, including hours worked, deductions, and tax information. Assist in overseeing the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. Assist with employee enrollment in benefits programs, ensuring eligibility requirements and deadlines. Assist in managing changes to employee benefits, including life events such as marriage, divorce, and childbirth, ensuring timely updates to coverage. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to payroll and benefits. Serve as a key resource for employees regarding payroll inquiries, benefits options, & eligibility criteria. Assist in conducting regular benefits orientation sessions to educate employees about available benefits and assist them in making informed decisions. Respond promptly to employee questions or concerns regarding payroll discrepancies and benefits coverage. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of employee benefits and payroll transactions. Assist in internal and external audits related to payroll and benefits, ensuring all documentation is readily available. Stay informed about changes in payroll and benefits regulations and industry best practices. Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance payroll & benefits efficiency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
ABILITIES
) Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration. Proficiency in ADP payroll systems; familiarity with other payroll software is a plus. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel for reporting and data analysis. Understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and employee benefits programs. Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems (i.e. ADP, PeopleSoft, etc) and benefits administration platforms. Strong communication to effectively interact with employees at all levels. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality. Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Professional certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent. Experience with labor union relations and collective bargaining agreements. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and terminology. Demonstrated ability to lead training sessions and employee development programs.
