Job Description

TriSource is working with a reputable nonprofit agency in Hampton, VA. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Benefits Specialist to join their team. In this role, you will provide coordination, guidance, and administrative support that are consistent and effective in the application of policies, procedures, and practices of the Human Resources Department.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists department in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for all company employees Responsible for daily benefits administration to include enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships and assists with compliance testing as needed Provides support with company leave of absences (LOA) requests to include requesting and retaining supporting documentation for claims Provides support to the HR Generalist in processing Family Medical Leave (FMLA) claims to include determining FMLA eligibility, processing of application, tracking and reporting, and employee notification Provides support to the Worker's Compensation program by assisting HR Generalist with claims, reporting and Safety Meeting representation Assists with the coordination of Discount and Incentive plans and Employee Wellness programs Conducts new employee orientations. Responsible for submitting HR related billing invoices Responsible for running various reports and analyzing data to ensure compliance is maintained in all HR specific areas Assists in exit interview process as needed Assists in organizational training and development efforts Maintains Human Resource Information System (HRIS) records and compiles reports from database as needed Other duties as assigned
Skills/Requirements Education:
Education and work experience requires any combination of the following: A bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field, OR One to two years' experience in the HR field, OR Any similar combination of education and experience
Experience:
Requires prior knowledge of benefit practices. Prior experience with an HRIS database preferred.
Skills Knowledge & Abilities:
