Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Benefits Support Specialist provides administrative support for employee benefits, leave, payroll, and reimbursements. This position maintains accurate records, responds to routine inquiries, and provides backup support for payroll processing.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED.

Computer training including word processing and spread sheets.

Proficient with 10 key calculators.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate the collection, processing, and maintenance of employee benefits information, ensuring records are accurate, complete, and current.

Manage the payroll email inbox, research employee inquiries, provide guidance on routine matters, and identify issues requiring further review.

Provide administrators with guidance and support on the employee absence management system, including researching and resolving discrepancies.

Administer the documentation and tracking processes for employee leave and disability matters, including developing leave calendars, recording approved leave, coordinating required paperwork, and submitting claims through applicable systems.

Review and finalize employee contracts, verify the accuracy of information, and maintain complete contract records.

Compile and review invoices and supporting documentation to prepare reimbursement requests.

Develop proficiency in payroll procedures and serve as a backup payroll processor, following established controls, review, and approval requirements.

Coordinate retirement workshops and Medicare information sessions for employees.

Possession of a valid driver's license

Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

The successful candidate should have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment when handling confidential employee information, and the ability to communicate clearly with employees and administrators.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Frequent sitting, standing, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion, and reaching. Occasional walking, bending, and stooping. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally. Requires timely and regular adherence to established work schedules.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

As per contract and board policies and regulations.

EVALUATION

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and administrative regulations on evaluation of classified personnel.

$26,000 to $31,000 Per Year
