Job Description

Position Description:
The Food Services Meal Benefit Manager is responsible for all activities relative to meal benefits including the processing, maintaining and verifying Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications using the appropriate Food Services software programs and for filing monthly claims to the Louisiana Department of Education for reimbursement of the service of all Food Services program meals.

Executive Director of Food Services Scope of Responsibility :
Manages the Food Services central office meal benefit network, including ordering and printing of forms, processing applications, reporting, filing, updating and communicating. Coordinates data flow between the Food Services and SIS departments as it relates to the meal benefit process. Oversees the work of temporary data entry clerks in processing meal benefits. Communicates with Food Services school cafeteria managers and school administration regarding student meal benefit status. Manages the meal benefit verification process ensuring that the process is in compliance with federal regulations and completed within the required timeframe. Participates in federal and state compliance reviews relative to all meal benefit processes. Participates in training Food Services school cafeteria managers on meal benefit processes. Executes all timekeeping and supplemental payroll for the Food Services Department. Collects and compiles supplemental payroll information for Food Services programs. Receives and reviews participation information from all school sites in preparation for the claim process. Communicates any discrepancies with central office data to Food Services school cafeteria managers for resolution. Prepares and files monthly claims for reimbursement of Food Services meals served to the Louisiana Department of Education, Division of Nutrition Support, Child Nutrition Programs website. Provides proactive communication to the Executive Director of Food Services of any issues or problems with the meal application or claim processes. Maintains data base of site based kitchen equipment repairs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Food Services.
Skills and Qualifications:

Successful candidates will also demonstrate and/or possess: 3+ years of progressively increasing experience in Food Services program operations. Strong communication skills in multiple settings and the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture creator that can inspire and motivate. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations. Collaborative management style, with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals at all levels to drive decision-making and results. High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking. Competence in using a personal computer including the district's software programs. Competence in using the Food Services software programs. Knowledge of and ability to apply federal and state rules and regulations to the meal application and claims processes. High School Diploma or GED Hi Set required.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in bookkeeping. Experience in School Food Services Policies.
Physical Involvement:
Standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds is often required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations and meeting sites, both inside and outside of the parish. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
