Director of Human Resources & Benefits Administrator Company Overview We are a multi-state hospitality group operating over 110 restaurant locations across Florida, Michigan, Texas, Alabama, Ohio, Georgia and Connecticut supporting a dedicated team of approximately 2000 employee partners. Job Summary The Director of Human Resources and Benefits Administrator oversees the core HR related administrative infrastructure of our restaurant group. Managing a workforce of 2000 employees across 7 states, this pivotal role ensures absolute organizational compliance by managing complex multi-state corporate insurance portfolios, strategic human resource initiatives, and corporate administrative workflows. The ideal candidate safeguards the company's legal health, protects our human capital, and ensures multi-unit HR operations run seamlessly without interruption. Key Responsibilities Risk Management & Insurance Administration Direct comprehensive commercial insurance portfolios , including multi-state Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Property, Unemployment Liability, Employment Practices Liability (EPLI), and Umbrella policies. Manage claims processing end-to-end , coordinating directly with brokers, insurance carriers, legal counsel, and restaurant General Managers to expedite resolutions and mitigate financial exposure. Oversee vendor compliance by auditing Certificates of Insurance (COI) to verify third-party coverage before allowing on-site maintenance or structural partnerships. Audit facilities regularly; guarantee all required consumer-facing, wage-and-hour, and operational poster mandates are visibly posted and legally compliant per individual state laws. Human Resources & Regional Labor Compliance Oversee full-cycle HR operations for all employees across all States, optimizing onboarding pipelines, personnel record-keeping, and progressive discipline frameworks tailored to varied state environments. Mitigate labor law risks by monitoring and enforcing hyper-local regulations, including:
Florida, Michigan & Connecticut:
Local tip-pooling and tip-credit laws, FLSA minimum wage variances, and any Mandatory Paid Sick Time laws. Administer employee benefits , health insurance negotiation, renewal, and enrollment (ensuring full ACA compliance for all employees), and coordinate Workers' Compensation case management from initial injury to return-to-work clearance. Manage 401K, COBRA, and Life Event Changes. Maintain and update the Employee Handbook , ensuring specific multi-state addenda (MI, TX, FL, AL, GA, CT, OH) are reviewed by counsel, distributed, and signed by all hospitality staff. Corporate Administration & Payroll Collaboration Centralize corporate administrative records , oversee and manage secure digital archives for property lease agreements, state corporate entity filings. Support payroll execution by collaborating with finance teams to verify proper multi-state tip reporting, tip-credit accounting, payroll tax compliance, and accurate hourly data. Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all 12 restaurant back offices to unify administrative workflows group-wide.
Skills and Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) are highly preferred.
Experience:
7+ years of progressive HR and benefits administration experience, with a mandatory minimum of 3 years overseeing multi-unit operations in a multi-state hospitality environment (preferably in QSR environment)
Regional Expertise:
Demonstrated mastery of State specific labor laws alongside familiarity with Florida, Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, and Connecticut employment frameworks.
Technical Skills:
Advanced proficiency with enterprise HRIS platforms, payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Toast Payroll), and digital license tracking systems.

Pay:
$125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
