Position Summary Advantage Benefits Group (ABG) is a leading, independently owned employee benefits firm with offices in Grand Rapids and Traverse City. Our impressive client roster includes prestigious universities, manufacturers, municipalities, and a diverse range of other organizations. The medical account manager position services medical plans for an assigned group of clients. The ABG Team is collaborative and dynamic, with a fun and family-like culture. Essential Functions Facilitate medical plan renewal process for assigned group Send out and process proposals from carriers, including analysis of discounts, benefits, networks, etc. Complete implementation of new group / product line implementations and renewals Resolve medical claim and technical issues for clients and their employees Assist in preparation of customer medical quotes by reviewing RFP's and preparing quote information Update clients on new legislation, regulations and issues Develop good working relationships with client key contacts Review and update policies and other documents to ensure accuracy Provide plan performance reports for clients Competency Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF Ability to take initiative, learn responsibilities quickly and develop operations and procedures Strong verbal, written, presentation and communication skills Ability to treat confidential and sensitive information with discretion Demonstrated professionalism, flexibility, and accuracy in all aspects of work/appearance/manners Ability to multitask and still meet deadlines with frequent interruptions Attention to detail Ability to make independent judgements, free from immediate supervision Credentials/Experience High school diploma or equivalent required, College degree preferred 3+ years of professional experience - Experience working with small and large groups, fully insured and self-funded insurance plans preferred; experience working with medical insurance carriers; preference given to those with applicable industry designations MI Life / Health & Accident Producer License required to be obtained by the end of the first year of employment Work Environment Temperature controlled, dog friendly office environment with individual cubical-like workspaces; low noise level Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; Reach with hands and arms; regularly talk or hear Must be able to travel as needed to meet with clients Why work with Advantage Benefits Group?
