Fox Rothschild has an opening in multiple offices for an Employee Benefits & Compensation Associate. The ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience with executive compensation, qualified retirement plans, and health and welfare plans. We are not accepting resumes from search firms for this position at this time.Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate (JD) required. The candidate must be licensed to practice in the state in which the office resides.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Significant experience advising on multiemployer pension and welfare fund matters, including withdrawal liability issues and related arbitration and litigation. Experience with qualified retirement plans, including defined benefit, defined contribution, and cafeteria plans. Experience with executive compensation matters, including deferred compensation planning and Internal Revenue Code Section 409A compliance. Experience in a full range of health and welfare benefits, including issues arising under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Familiarity with ERISA and Internal Revenue Code compliance, and employee benefits issues, generally, in order to advise on employee benefits aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and business transactions. Experience with Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), including compliance, fiduciary, and transactional matters. Experience preparing and submitting correction program applications through the Internal Revenue Service (EPCRS) and Department of Labor (VFCP, DFVC) correction programs. Experience handling investigations by the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation for qualified plan and tax issues. Familiarity with employment-related documents, including employee handbooks, employment agreements, and separation agreements. Transactional experience is preferred. Work Environment & Physical Demands This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.Physical Requirements Sedentary work:
Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this position applies to Minneapolis. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this position is $220,000 - $245,000 in Minneapolis.
