The Benefits Director plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing a strategic, compliant, and cost-effective Total Rewards program that supports the Company's mission to attract, retain, and develop high-performing talent. This position is responsible for designing, administering, and continuously improving benefit programs across a complex healthcare environment, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, legal requirements, and financial objectives. By leading a dedicated benefits team, collaborating with key stakeholders including Compensation and HRIS leadership, and maintaining strong relationships with external partners, the Benefits Director ensures seamless delivery of benefits services, accurate communications, and continuous process improvement. The role emphasizes compliance with federal and state regulations, data-driven decision-making through performance metrics, and a commitment to operational excellence and compassionate care across all levels of the organization.Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and administer best-in-class benefit programs that support talent acquisition, retention, and cost management. Partner with the Director of Compensation, Manager of HRIS, and VP, Compensation, Benefits & HRIS to deliver a cohesive Total Rewards strategy aligned with Company business objectives. Lead and mentor a team of Benefits staff, fostering professional growth, accountability, and high performance. Maintain and strengthen relationships with external consultants, actuaries, and outsourcing service providers. Ensure all company-sponsored benefit plans comply with federal and state regulations, including PPA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, DOL, IRS, and ERISA reporting and disclosure requirements. Evaluate and implement efficient, accurate, and scalable processes to enhance benefit delivery and service quality. Collaborate with ISD and HRIS teams to design and deploy system enhancements and automated tools for enrollment and benefits information. Serve as the primary point of contact for the Human Resource Service Center on escalated issues and process improvement initiatives. Develop and manage effective, clear, and timely benefit communications to employees and stakeholders. Establish and track key performance metrics to assess the return on investment and impact of benefit programs. Uphold company standards for patient, staff, and visitor safety, while adhering to all policies, budgetary constraints, and quality benchmarks. Support organizational goals through continuous learning, mentorship, and leadership development. Demonstrate a deep commitment to compassionate, personalized care and service for every member of the Hospital community. Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Certification in HR or benefits administration (e.g., Certified Benefits Professional - CBP, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist - CEBS) strongly preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience managing benefits operations in a complex healthcare system or multi-divisional organization. Proven experience in the full lifecycle of benefit program implementation, including plan design, compliance, administration, and evaluation. Demonstrated expertise in health and welfare plans, qualified retirement plans (401(k), 403(b)), pension, life and AD&D, short-term disability, voluntary benefits, and wellness initiatives. In-depth knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, health care reform, and other relevant federal and state regulations. Experience with HRIS systems and data management, including system enhancements and integration with benefit delivery platforms. Strong leadership and team development skills with a track record of motivating and guiding professionals toward measurable results. Exceptional organizational and time management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and escalate issues appropriately. High level of attention to detail, follow-through, and problem-solving acumen. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced computer skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
