Job Description
Overview Meridian Insurance Group is a fast-growing independently owned commercial insurance agency looking to expand our offerings. This role would help manage employee benefit accounts - target group size of 10-100. Work with producers to help facilitate quotes, renewals, servicing needs. This role would play a vital part in building out this business unit within the agency - this includes vendor and carrier management, working to develop process and efficiencies. Duties Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs including health insurance and voluntary benefits. Core market segment is 100 and under groups. Ensure compliance with all relevant employment and labor laws such as FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act), HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), and HR legal standards. Manage quoting process from gathering information from prospects, to marketing with carriers, to assistance in plan designs and proposals. Coordinate with insurance providers and third-party vendors to negotiate contracts, resolve issues, and enhance benefit offerings. Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information and ensure adherence to HR compliance policies. Lead training sessions on benefit systems. This role would be a team lead and would eventually have additional staffing working to support them - so leadership characteristics are important. Experience Proven experience in employee benefits account management. Strong knowledge of health insurance plans, negotiating contracts, ancillary benefits, carriers, and self-funded expereince is an advantage. Excellent communication skills with producers, leadership, carrier partners, and clients! Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to employee benefits including HIPAA compliance and regulatory reporting standards. Ability to develop training programs on benefits administration, employee orientation, and HR compliance initiatives that foster ongoing learning and development. Organization and forward thinking - this role requires strong organizational skills with focus on process and efficiency. Open to learn new software and technology programs to enhance efficiencies and customer experience. This is a very unique opportunity within the industry to help launch a benefit department at a fast-growing independent insurance agency. The benefit department would be supported by a foundation of existing P&C customers. 3 in, 2 out hybrid work model - great in office atmosphere and a great team in place currently.
