Job Description

Position Summary The Benefits Manager is responsible for the administration and coordination of the organization s employee benefits programs. This role ensures benefits offerings are effectively managed, compliant, and aligned with organizational needs, while delivering a positive employee experience through education, communication, and support. Key Responsibilities Benefits Administration Administer day-to-day operations of employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, retirement, and wellness initiatives Support annual open enrollment, including preparation, system setup, and employee communications Ensure accurate enrollment, changes, and terminations in benefits systems Vendor Coordination Act as a point of contact for benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators Assist in resolving employee issues with providers and escalate when necessary Support benefits renewals and vendor evaluations Compliance & Documentation Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA) Maintain plan documents, summary plan descriptions (SPDs), and required notices Assist with audits and required filings Employee Support & Communication Respond to employee inquiries related to benefits and provide guidance on plan options Assist in developing and distributing benefits communications and educational materials Support wellness initiatives and employee engagement efforts Data & Reporting Maintain accurate benefits data and support reporting needs Assist with tracking benefits utilization and costs Support budgeting and renewal analysis processes HRIS & Process Support Partner with HRIS and payroll teams to ensure data accuracy and system functionality Assist with benefits audits, reconciliations, and process improvements Utilize systems such as ADP to manage benefits administration (preferred) Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3-5 years of experience in benefits administration or related HR field Knowledge & Skills Working knowledge of benefits regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Preferred Experience with ADP or similar HRIS systems Professional certification (CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) Key Competencies Attention to Detail Customer Service Orientation Communication Skills Problem Solving Confidentiality Work Environment Office-based or hybrid environment Minimal travel may be required About Hilldrup Hilldrup is one of the largest and most honored agency groups in the entire industry, operating facilities in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
