To ensure compliance with civil rights related state and federal laws by assisting with all functions of the Office of Equal Opportunity Services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation: Ensures District compliance with: New Mexico Human Rights Act, the Civil Rights Act, Title IX of the Education Amendments, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and all laws or regulations for civil rights compliance in public education and their related regulations. Assists with the investigations and interviews of parties, scheduling, correspondence, and inspects and researches documentation as related to EOS complaints, both internal to APS and with external civil rights agencies. Responds to student, parent/guardian, employee and applicant questions, concerns, allegations, and provides guidance via phone, email, website forms, and other APS modes of communications. Ensures confidentiality of all documentation. Assists in compiling data for EOS materials and policies for dissemination to the District and the community at large. Assists in compiling data for the revision of and preparation of related Affirmative Action Plans, Civil Rights Data Collection, and the EEO-5 employment survey, and any other required state or federal civil rights reporting. Manages internal and external correspondence, documentation, and maintains filing systems. Assists in the maintenance of the budget for the EOS Office. Responds to NMIPRA requests and provides relevant documentation. Coordinates training related to the scope of the EOS Office. This includes communication on trainings, documentation of attendees and all logistics. Assists in facilitation of trainings as requested. Updates the website, EOS forms and literature as requested. Schedules rooms and facilities through APS systems. Maintains annual data base spreadsheets on intakes, reported concerns, EEOC and HRB complaints, EOS internal complaints and related formal and informal resolutions, OCR complaints, mediations, and Gender Support Plans. Use of District computer Lawson and Synergy to gather information on students and employees.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Customer Service experience Knowledge of APS community, computer system, financial and legal requirements. Knowledge of governing laws, regulations, and policies for which EOS provides oversight.' Knowledge of statutory/regulatory requirements related to the operation of a school district or a public entity.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in related field; or High School Diploma or GED with 2 years' experience working in Human Resources, Benefits, EOS, customer service and/or school setting or related field. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Knowledge and understanding of the unique, personal, economic, social, linguistic and cultural backgrounds of Albuquerque Public Schools' staff, students, families and communities. Proficiency using word processing, database, email, and spreadsheet software and other technical equipment as required (computer and associated software, scanner, copier, etc.)
