Performance Bonus Role Summary:
The Settlement Officer is responsible for converting qualified leads into clients by conducting financial consultations, determining eligibility for IRS and State tax relief programs, and closing sales for resolution services. Unlike a standard closer, you are also responsible for the initial settlement strategy and client onboarding to ensure cases are viable and collectible. This role requires both sales acumen and technical knowledge of tax resolution. Core Responsibilities Sales & Closing Handle inbound warm leads and outbound follow-ups from marketing•no cold prospecting Conduct in-depth discovery calls to uncover tax liability, compliance history, income, assets, and hardship Analyze IRS transcripts, account transcripts, and notices to determine true liability Present resolution options: Offer in Compromise (OIC), Installment Agreement, Currently Not Collectible (CNC), Penalty Abatement, Innocent Spouse, Wage Garnishment / Levy Release Overcome objections, build urgency, and close clients on service agreements Meet or exceed monthly sales targets, close rate, and revenue KPIs Maintain accurate notes, recordings, and disposition in CRM [HubSpot / Salesforce / TaxCRM]
Qualifications Required:
2+ years experience in tax relief sales, debt settlement, loan modification, or high-ticket closing Proven track record closing $30k+ monthly in service fees Working knowledge of IRS tax resolution programs and financial statement analysis Ability to read and interpret IRS notices, transcripts, and account histories Excellent consultative selling, negotiation, and closing skills Proficiency with CRM and dialer systems
Preferred:
Previous role as Tax Resolution Officer, Settlement Consultant, or Senior Tax Consultant Background in finance, accounting, or legal services sales
Licensed Tax Preparer or AFSP Key Skills & Competencies Consultative Closer:
Empathetic but firm, can handle financially stressed clients
Technical Translator:
Can explain complex IRS procedures in simple, trust-building terms
Ethical Seller:
Prioritizes case viability over commission•low chargeback / cancellation mindset
Pressure Performance:

Detail Oriented:
