To serve as the liaison to the Office of Human Resources and/or the Dean's office for most human resources related matters. To coordinate departmental human resources actions and ensure proper processing of paperwork. May represent the college/school/department/division/center/institute leadership in working groups and committees at UAB HR and/or UAB Medicine. Key Duties & Responsibilities 1. Handles the day-to-day administration of human resources processes and procedures for UAB faculty, staff, post-doctoral fellows, students, contract employees, visiting scientists, and international faculty/staff/scholars in the functional areas such as employment, staffing, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training and issues related to federal and state regulations and laws such as ADA, FLSA and EEOC. 2. Assists chair and department promotion and tenure committee during the Faculty Promotion and Tenure process. 3. Collects human resources data and makes recommendations to appropriate management. Compiles information and prepares reports, letters and job related documentation of a confidential nature. 4. Coordinates departmental human resource actions and ensures proper process of paperwork. 5. Advises, provides information, trains others and responds to questions regarding human resources policies. Identifies potential program, policy or relations issues and confers with appropriate HR resources. 6. Ensures compliance with Human Resources policies and procedures. 7. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills
/ Abilities Ability to communicate effectively Interpersonal skills Leadership skills Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources or a related field and two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirements.
Licenses / Certifications
/ Registrations Currently certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) preferred.
