Job Description
Job Overview Barbour County Commission is seeking a dynamic and proactive Human Resources Officer/Safety Coordinator to join our team. This pivotal role combines the responsibilities of managing comprehensive human resources functions with overseeing workplace safety initiatives. You will champion employee engagement, talent management, and compliance efforts while ensuring a safe, compliant, and productive work environment. Your energetic approach will drive strategic HR practices, foster positive employee relations, and uphold safety standards across the organization. Duties Administer benefits programs, payroll processing, and benefits administration while ensuring compliance with employment & labor law and HR legal standards. Develop and implement HR policies aligned with regulatory compliance management and affirmative action planning to promote diversity and inclusion initiatives. Manage employee relations by addressing conflicts through effective conflict management techniques, fostering open communication skills, and supporting a positive work environment. Coordinate safety programs by conducting risk assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and ensuring adherence to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards. Maintain accurate HRIS records, and handle confidential information with integrity. Support project management activities related to organization design, change management initiatives, and strategic planning efforts to support organizational growth. Experience Proven experience in human resources department functions with a strong understanding of employment law in talent management and HR legal compliance. Demonstrated ability in recruiting, personnel administration, benefits administration, payroll processing, and employee relations. Familiarity with FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), workers' compensation procedures, OSHA safety protocols, and regulatory compliance management. Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction across all levels of the organization; experience in conflict management is highly valued. Prior experience in Human Resource Management is preferred. Education Graduate from an accredited college or university with a degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration and two years' experience. Proof of compliance is a degree or transcripts.
