Job Description
About the Role We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Clerk & HR Assistant to support our Accounting and Human Resources departments. This role reports directly to the Controller and plays a key part in ensuring accurate payroll processing and assisting HR operations. Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration Process biweekly payroll for 250-300 employees - Paycom. Audit payroll reports and resolve discrepancies. Respond to employee and managers inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and timekeeping Review and correct time punch discrepancies Process terminations and final paychecks Handle manual adjustments and special payroll checks Prepare payroll reports and analytics Benefit invoice coding and reconciliation Maintain payroll records and filing systems Human Resources Support Assist with recruitment efforts, especially for driver positions Coordinate interviews, screenings, and onboarding processes Maintain and update applicant tracking systems Support new hire orientation and onboarding documentation Assist with benefits administration (medical, dental, vision, 401k, etc.) Help manage enrollments, terminations, and employee benefit inquiries Maintain employee records and HR documentation Support leave of absence administration Track and distribute employee uniforms Help develop and maintain HR Standard Operating Procedures Compliance & Reporting Ensure compliance with labor laws and company policies Generate reports on payroll, headcount, and HR metrics Assist with audits and regulatory inspections Qualifications Minimum 2 years of payroll and/or HR experience Strong attention to detail and analytical skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Knowledge of California wage and hour laws preferred Work Environment & Physical Requirements Standard office setting Regular sitting, typing, and communication Occasional lifting of office supplies (up to 20 lbs) Additional Information No supervisory responsibilities No travel required Occasional overtime, weekends, or evenings may be needed
Pay:
