In person at the GCVCC Coachella Office About the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce (GCVCC) serves as a catalyst for local commerce, a convener of business and community leaders, and a champion for the local business community. Through advocacy, education, resources, networking and regional partnerships, the GCVCC works to support businesses and strengthen communities throughout the Coachella Valley. Position Overview The Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce is seeking an organized, welcoming, self-motivated and resourceful Membership & Workforce Coordinator to join our team at our Coachella office. The primary responsibility of this position will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of the new Coachella Community Business & Resource Center , a shared community workspace designed to connect local businesses, entrepreneurs, job seekers and community members with workspace, information, resources and partner services. This position will serve as the primary on-site Chamber staff member managing the Coachella office during regular working hours . While the coordinator will work closely with the broader GCVCC team, this role requires someone who is highly dependable, has a strong independent work ethic, is comfortable working independently and can make day-to-day decisions to keep the office and Resource Center operating smoothly. The Membership & Workforce Coordinator will welcome visitors, help identify their needs, connect them with appropriate resources or partner organizations, coordinate shared workspace and conference room use, and ensure the Center remains organized, professional and accessible. The position will also provide administrative support for the Chamber's membership operations, including database management, member communication and general membership services. Professional working proficiency in both English and Spanish is required, including the ability to communicate effectively with visitors by phone, email and in person. Key ResponsibilitiesCoachella Community Business & Resource Center Independently manage the day-to-day operations of the Coachella Community Business & Resource Center. Serve as the primary on-site Chamber representative and point of contact for the Coachella office. Open, maintain and oversee the office during assigned working hours, ensuring the space remains professional, organized and ready for community use. Serve as the primary point of contact for businesses, entrepreneurs, job seekers, residents and other community members visiting the Center. Welcome visitors, identify the type of assistance they are seeking and connect them with appropriate Chamber programs, community resources or partner organizations. Provide information regarding available business, workforce and community resources. Coordinate with wraparound service partners providing resources, programs or services through the Center. Maintain schedules for partner organizations utilizing the Center. Manage reservations and scheduling for conference rooms, shared workspace and other available Center resources. Assist users with basic office and workspace needs. Coordinate printing and other administrative service requests offered through the Center. Monitor office equipment, technology, internet and other workspace systems. Troubleshoot basic technology issues and coordinate more complex IT needs with the Chamber's IT partner. Exercise sound judgment and take initiative in addressing routine office, visitor and operational needs without requiring constant supervision. Maintain an organized, professional and welcoming office and shared workspace environment. Track Center usage, visitors, services and other information as needed for reporting purposes. Assist with workshops, educational programs, workforce programs and other activities taking place at the Center. Help communicate available Center services and resources to businesses and community members. Membership Administration Assist with Chamber membership administrative duties and member services. Maintain accurate membership records and information within the Chamber's database and CRM system. Respond to member questions by phone, email and in person and direct inquiries to the appropriate Chamber staff member when needed. Assist with membership applications, renewals and general account updates. Provide information regarding Chamber programs, benefits, events and resources. Support membership retention and engagement efforts through administrative follow-up and communication. Assist Chamber staff with reports, data entry, mailings, printing and other administrative projects. Perform other duties as assigned in support of the overall mission and operations of the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce. Qualifications Professional working proficiency in both English and Spanish is required , including the ability to communicate effectively by phone, email and in person. Strong independent work ethic and the ability to remain productive, organized and accountable while working without another Chamber staff member regularly on-site. Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of the daily operation of an office. Ability to use good judgment, take initiative and resolve routine issues independently while recognizing when matters should be elevated to Chamber leadership. Dependable and able to maintain consistent office coverage during scheduled working hours. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. Professional, welcoming and comfortable serving as the primary Chamber representative for an active community office. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple schedules, requests and priorities throughout the day. Ability to work independently while also communicating and collaborating effectively with Chamber staff working from other locations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. General proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, online scheduling systems and office technology. Comfortable learning and working within CRM and database systems. Ability to troubleshoot basic computer, printer, internet and office technology issues and coordinate with an outside IT provider when needed. Previous experience in customer service, office administration, membership organizations, workforce development, community services or a related field is preferred. Familiarity with the Coachella community and local business environment is a plus. Schedule & Compensation Part-time, nonexempt position, approximately 30 hours per week. Regular schedule is expected to be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday . The Coachella office is closed on Wednesdays . Position is based exclusively at the GCVCC Coachella Office and Coachella Community Business & Resource Center . This is not a field-based position. The Membership & Workforce Coordinator will generally be the sole Chamber staff member working from the Coachella office and must be comfortable managing the location independently. The Coachella office will close for a 30-minute lunch period each workday to allow the employee to take an uninterrupted meal break. Additional paid rest periods will be provided in accordance with applicable California law.
Pay range:
$25.00-$26.00 per hour , based on qualifications and experience within the posted range. This person should be equally comfortable assisting a local business owner with a conference room reservation, helping a community member connect with a workforce resource, coordinating with a partner organization, resolving a printer issue or updating a Chamber member's account. Most importantly, they should be committed to providing professional, friendly and responsive service while ensuring the Coachella Community Business & Resource Center operates effectively each day.
