Emeryville, California What you will be doing: Provide day-to-day HR and administrative support to the Operations Manager. Assist with recruiting, including job postings, resume review, interview scheduling, and candidate communication. Prepare offer letters and coordinate pre-employment requirements. Manage new-hire onboarding, orientation, documentation, and system access. Maintain confidential personnel files and HR records. Assist with employee changes, promotions, compensation updates, and offboarding. Respond to routine employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and firm practices. Support employee relations matters and escalate sensitive issues appropriately. Track PTO, attendance, training, performance reviews, and HR deadlines. Assist with benefits administration and employee communications. Support compliance with California employment laws and internal HR policies. Coordinate employee meetings, training, firm events, and engagement activities. Prepare reports, spreadsheets, correspondence, and HR documentation. Assist the Operations Manager with special projects and general office operations. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding employee, compensation, legal, and firm information.
What you must have:
2+ years of HR, recruiting, administrative, or operations experience preferred. Law firm, legal department, or professional services experience strongly preferred. Understanding of HR practices, recruiting, onboarding, and employee documentation. Knowledge of California employment and labor practices is a plus. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Professional demeanor and ability to interact with attorneys, staff, candidates, and leadership. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred but not required. Must be able and willing to work 100% on-site in the Emeryville, CA office. This is not a remote position.
Salary/Rate Range:
