Job Summary A mission-driven nonprofit organization in Fresno, CA is seeking a Human Resources Assistant. This role is ideal for a dependable HR and administrative professional who enjoys supporting people, maintaining organized records, assisting with onboarding, and helping create a welcoming experience for employees, volunteers, interns, visitors, and community partners. The Human Resources Assistant will work closely with HR leadership in a supportive, team-oriented environment where confidentiality, professionalism, and service are highly valued. This position offers the opportunity to gain broad exposure to HR operations, recruitment support, volunteer coordination, payroll backup, employee records, training logistics, and front desk coverage. - Provide clerical and administrative support to the Human Resources department while maintaining confidentiality of personnel information and communications.
- Assist with onboarding for new employees, volunteer and intern coordination, personnel file maintenance, badge issuance, and HR communications.
- Support recruitment activities, community job events, volunteer needs, open enrollment, new hire orientation, CPR/First Aid training, and supervisory training sessions.
- Serve as payroll processing backup when needed and help maintain accurate employee, volunteer, intern, and equipment records.
- Provide relief coverage for the front desk, including greeting visitors and families, answering phones, and routing calls professionally.
- Follow company policies, procedures, HIPAA requirements, and applicable confidentiality standards. Compensation and Benefits

- 2 or more years of general office, clerical, or administrative experience required.
- Human resources experience or HR knowledge is helpful.
- Accurate data entry skills, including 40 WPM or 11,000 KPH.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions within guidelines and use sound judgment.
- Professional demeanor, strong ethics, reliability, dependability, adaptability, and time management skills.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods and perform repetitive hand and wrist motions.
- Valid California driver's license, good driving record with no serious violations in the previous two-year period, and proof of current automobile liability insurance required.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and occasionally drive locally for business needs. Preferred Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Human Resources.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
- Bilingual Spanish communication skills.
- Experience supporting nonprofit, community service, volunteer, internship, or employee onboarding programs.
