Job Description

Perform entry level professional duties of moderate difficulty providing the opportunity for professional training in various offices throughout the City. Perform assigned duties to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for successful performance. Specific activities vary by department. Work is performed under direct supervision. This internship is with the Human Resources Employee Engagement & Development Department located in the City of Lakeland Training Center at 989 E. Memorial Blvd in Lakeland, FL. Interns will work a maximum of 30 hours a week. This internship begins in September. Assists with workshop registration and attendance tracking Prepare participant materials and handouts Set up training rooms Create training calendars and promotional materials Maintain training records Assist in converting Power Point presentations into e-learning modules Create participant workbooks and job aids Assist with employee engagement initiatives Provides support to staff as assigned
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform related work as required Currently enrolled in a program related to Human Resource Management, Organizational Leadership, Human Resource Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, Psychology, Communications, Education, or a related field in an accredited educational institution.
Required:

Interest in employee development, training, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement Experience with presentation design, e-learning (iSpring), training development, event coordination, data analysis, or communications preferred but not required Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Strong organizational and time management skills Able to work a weekday schedule of Monday - Friday between 8am - 5pm Skill in the use of personal computers and standard office equipment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Teams) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other City employees and the general public Skill in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing, and to request clarification when needed Valid driver's license required
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
Requires sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time, exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis, routine keyboard operations The job risks exposure to no significant environmental hazards The job requires normal visual acuity, and field of vision, hearing and speaking All City of Lakeland positions are subject to testing (e.g. written, oral, performance, computerized, interview, and/or any combination).
