Job Description

The purpose of this position is to take an active and engaging role to learn from and assist the Human Resources staff under the direction of the Human Resources Business Partner Supervisor. Pay range for this position is $18.00/hr. WaterOne's summer internship program runs from May 17, 2027 until August 6, 2027. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Assists with and carries out special projects as assigned.
Examples of potential projects include:
Developing Requests for Proposals to solicit outside firms for contractual work. Updating retirement plans and relevant data.

Construct materials to inform, update and engage employees about benefit plans or other human resources programs.

Coordinating and assisting organization-wide employee functions and events.

Assisting and facilitating learning and development sessions for WaterOne employees.

Supporting HRIS related projects.

Supporting projects and/or initiatives related to safety and security functions. Expresses interest and learn from various departments of the organization by shadowing and working with different dynamics of a public water utility.

Assists with routine administrative work.

Assists with personnel file audit and compliance information.

Conducts various peer organization surveys to research, develop and gain understanding of HR policies and respective proposals.

Assists with recruitment activities such as resume screening.

Attends meetings regarding projects as assigned. Attends at least one WaterOne Board Meeting.

Writes specifications, memos, and letters as assigned. Other Duties Perform other job duties as assigned. Customer Service Commitment WaterOne employees shall continuously strive to meet or exceed the expectations of both their internal and external customers. Questions and concerns shall be acknowledged on the same day whenever possible, but no later than the next business day. Issues shall be resolved as promptly as possible, with the goal of maximizing customer satisfaction. Required Education & Experience Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program at a regionally accredited college or university, with a major in human resources, public administration, business administration, or a closely related field. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to commit to a 12-week internship program.

Aptitude to continue a career in management/administrative fields in the public or nonprofit sectors.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, meet deadlines, work independently, and exercise good judgment. Ability to create and maintain accurate records and reports.

Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Good interpersonal skills, strong oral and written communication skills and listening skills.

Possess a valid driver's license and continuously meet WaterOne driving standards.

Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background verification in accordance with WaterOne standards. Employees will be expected to work in a professional office environment that includes tasks performed at a desk, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and filing systems.
