About Watercrafters Watercrafters has served Montgomery County residential pool owners since 1982. We are an established, independent pool and backyard-living company known for knowledgeable employees, quality products, dependable workmanship, and long-term customer relationships. Many members of our team have been with us for five, ten, or more years. The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced accounting professional to independently manage our day-to-day bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll, benefits administration, and related corporate records. This is a hands-on, part-time position working three days per week in our Gaithersburg office. The right person is dependable, highly detail-oriented, and comfortable managing recurring deadlines with minimal daily supervision. Because this position handles confidential employee and financial information, sound judgment, discretion, and consistent follow-through are essential. What You'll Own Monthly financial statements, general-ledger reconciliations, year-end accruals, and investigation of discrepancies. Bank transaction recording, bank-account reconciliations, bank deposits, company credit-card posting, and credit-card reconciliations in QuickBooks Desktop. Accounts payable, including matching vendor invoices to purchasing receivers, posting invoices, preparing payments, and tracking and reconciling vendor credits. Limited accounts receivable, including processing customer payments and managing collection activity. Biweekly payroll through QuickBooks Payroll, including reconciliation, employee pay and status changes, PTO tracking, payroll records, and W-2 oversight. New-hire, employee-status-change, and separation paperwork, along with accurate maintenance of confidential personnel records. Health, life, and disability plan administration, including broker coordination, renewals, employee enrollments, and terminations. 401(k) administration, including biweekly contributions, annual testing, and information required for annual filings. 1099 and 1096 preparation, W-9 tracking, monthly sales-tax submissions, and miscellaneous federal and state reporting. Workers' compensation claims and related administrative follow-up. Business insurance, licenses, permits, vehicle inventory, registrations, and other corporate records. Coordination with the company CPA for annual tax preparation and other information requests, plus office-supply ordering and related administrative support as needed. What We're Looking For Substantial hands-on experience with full-charge bookkeeping or accounting, including general-ledger reconciliations and monthly financial reporting. Direct experience processing payroll and administering employee benefits and HR paperwork. Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Payroll. Excellent accuracy, organization, follow-through, and ability to remember and manage recurring deadlines. Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities, investigate discrepancies, and work independently without close daily supervision. Strong math, computer, written communication, and verbal communication skills. Sound judgment and the ability to protect confidential employee and financial information. An associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience managing accounting, payroll, benefits, and corporate administration for a small or midsize business is preferred.
