The Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) Region 1-A is a private, non-profit organization responsible for planning, coordinating, developing, and funding services for older adults in the cities of Detroit, the five Grosse Pointes, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Highland Park. We're seeking a talented and motivated Human Resources Coordinator to join our innovative team. Under the general supervision of the Director, the DAAA Human Resources Coordinator will provide administrative and operational support to the DAAA Human Resources Department. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth functioning of HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HRIS management. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. This role requires a high level of commitment, adaptability, and accountability. This individual must possess a strong work ethic, the capacity to manage complexity, and the depth of professional judgment necessary to serve a vulnerable population with excellence. Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment Support:
Assist in posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating with hiring managers.
Onboarding and Offboarding:
Prepare new hire paperwork, conduct orientation sessions, and manage the offboarding process for departing employees.
HRIS Management:
Maintain and update employee records in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
Employee Relations:
Provide assistance with employee inquiries, support HR initiatives, and help in maintaining a positive work environment.
Administrative Tasks:
Manage HR filing systems, process HR-related invoices, and assist with special HR projects as needed. Initiate and manage projects focused on enhancing HR operational efficiency, with an initial emphasis on streamlining the new hire onboarding process. This involves mapping current workflows, gathering stakeholder feedback, researching best practices, and implementing improvements to reduce administrative burden and improve the new hire experience.
Benefits Administration:
Provide support in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance and retirement plans.
HR Compliance:
Ensure adherence to labor laws and DAAA policies in all HR practices. All other related duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
Experience:
At least 3 years of progressive HR experience Prior experience working with a Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). Prior experience in the Development and Delivery of Training materials. Working Knowledge of the Microsoft Suite Compensation, Benefits Management/Risk Management, and Recruitment experience are a plus
PHR/ SPHR
