ABOUT US
Spring Lake Country Club is the West Michigan destination for downtime on the lakeshore. The clubhouse is a home away from home to over 500 families. SLCC prides itself on a strong sense of community among membership and staff. The HR position will help to maintain employment standards in order to preserve the club's welcoming and accommodating environment. SUMMARY Develop, enhance, and maintain Spring Lake Country Club's human resources functions by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and HR policies, programs, and practices. Lead the club's employee recruitment efforts in collaboration with the leadership team, including recruitment, selection, and orientation of new team members. Work with the Director of Finance on health benefits programs and support the Finance Team with bi-weekly payroll duties. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and labor laws, and propose innovative improvements for employees and the Club.
QUALIFICATIONS
Above all, this position requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to build positive relationships with employees and leadership. The ideal candidate will possess considerable knowledge of human resources principles and personnel administration practices, along with effective oral and written communication skills, a member-first attitude, and excellent interpersonal abilities. Attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with care are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administer various human resources plans and procedures for all club personnel, assist in policy development, and maintain the employee handbook.

  • Lead the club's employee recruitment efforts in collaboration with the leadership team, including recruitment, selection, orientation of new team members, reference checks, and hiring recommendations.
  • Handle employee relations which could include counseling, exit interviews, etc.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Finance, manage group insurance and related benefits programs, communicate benefits information to staff, and change reporting.
  • Support the Finance Team with bi-weekly payroll duties.
  • Keep accurate employment records and maintain electronic files.
  • Advise management about discipline/discharge and related matters.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with members, co-workers and management.
  • Develop and coordinate the annual employee review process.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements, such as
FMLA, ESTA, OSHA
logs and Workers' Compensation management, etc.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three (3)+ years of Human Resources experience preferred or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with HRIS systems required, Paycor experience a plus.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Must be computer proficient with knowledge of Windows-based programs such as Word and Excel, email, and internet usage.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned projects.
  • Always maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must be a team player and service-oriented.
  • Ability to meet US employment eligibility requirements and company eligibility requirements.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • Flexible scheduling available to allow adjustment of the 32-hour schedule in coordination with the Director of Finance.
  • Annual salary of $50,000.
  • Health insurance, vacation, and other benefits offered.

$50,000.00 per year
