Human Resources Employment Classification:
Hourly, Non-Exempt;
Part-Time Hourly Range:
$18.00 - $21.00 (DOE) Position Summary The Human Resources Assistant supports the daily administration of human resources and payroll activities. This position assists with recruitment, onboarding, payroll processing, employee benefits, leaves of absence, workers' compensation, safety documentation, and personnel records. The Human Resources Assistant also serves as a helpful and professional resource for employees and management while maintaining confidentiality and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain résumés, employment applications, interview notes, applicant-flow records, and other recruitment documentation in accordance with established hiring procedures. Prepare offer letters and provide onboarding instructions to prospective employees. Conduct background and reference checks for prospective employees. Coordinate and conduct human resources orientation for new employees, including required training and presentations. Process new-hire, employee-change, and termination documentation in ADP. Support compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity laws and other applicable employment regulations. Assist employees with questions regarding company benefit plans and enrollment procedures. Assist with preparing, reviewing, and updating job descriptions. Process payroll information, timecards, and related documentation using the ADP payroll system. Maintain accurate payroll records in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and company record-retention requirements. Process employee benefit elections and changes in ADP. Assist with the administration of short-term disability, long-term disability, and leave-of-absence benefits. Serve as a liaison with the company's workers' compensation carrier, including reporting incidents and initiating claims. Maintain required OSHA logs and workplace accident records. Assist with safety committee activities, monthly safety training, and supporting documentation. Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records. Protect the confidentiality of employee, payroll, medical, and company information. Maintain the company's organizational chart. Maintain approved employee driving records and related documentation. Assist the Human Resources Manager with special projects and other assigned responsibilities. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Previous administrative, human resources, payroll, or benefits experience is preferred. Experience using ADP or another human resources and payroll information system is preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and maintain strict confidentiality. Strong customer-service skills and the ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all organizational levels. Basic knowledge of employment laws, payroll practices, employee benefits, and recordkeeping requirements is preferred.
