In this dual-focused role, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing while also handling core HR responsibilities including benefits administration, employee onboarding, records management, and compliance. This position is ideal for someone who thrives on precision, enjoys variety in their workday, and wants to make a direct impact on employee experience and organizational compliance. Responsibilities Process hourly and salary payrolls accurately and on time, including calculating wages, overtime, deductions, and garnishments for all employees. Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws (FLSA). Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans (401k), and other voluntary benefits, serving as the primary point of contact for employee questions. Manage new hire onboarding, including new employee orientation, paperwork completion, I-9 verification, background checks, and benefits enrollment. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data integrity for payroll, benefits, and personnel files. Support FMLA administration, leave of absence tracking, and workers' compensation claims processing. Manage workers compensation insurance policies and audits. Assist with recruiting and hiring efforts, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating with hiring managers. Respond to employee relations inquiries and escalate more complex issues to leadership as needed. Ensure compliance with employment law, including ADA, EEOC, and other applicable federal and state regulations. Prepare and reconcile payroll reports, tax filings, and year-end documents (W-2s, ACA reporting) in partnership with finance/accounting for multiple states and companies. Support development of performance management processes, including tracking review cycles and maintaining documentation. Assist with policy administration and updates to the employee handbook as regulations or company practices evolve. Skills Experience processing payroll using systems such as ADP, Paychex, Paycom, or similar platforms. Strong working knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and general HR compliance requirements. Familiarity with HRIS platforms for data entry, reporting, and recordkeeping. Solid understanding of benefits administration, including health insurance and retirement plan enrollment. Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, and workers' compensation processes. Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support employees at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data reconciliation, reporting, and analysis. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict payroll deadlines.
