Job Description

The Woodbury, Long Island office of Kaufman Dolowich is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator with 2-5 years of HR experience to support the day-to-day operations of our Human Resources Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, detail-oriented HR professional who enjoys working with employees, managing HR processes, and contributing to a positive employee experience. Position Summary The Human Resources Coordinator will provide administrative and operational support across a variety of human resources functions, including onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, employee records management, payroll support, compliance, employee communications, and HR reporting. This role works closely with employees, managers, and firm leadership to ensure a seamless and professional HR experience. Essential Responsibilities Coordinate new hire onboarding and orientation processes, including preparation of employment documentation and system setup. Manage employee status changes, including promotions, transfers, compensation updates, and separations. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within the HRIS and personnel files. Assist employees with benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, and general benefits inquiries. Support leave administration, including
FMLA, ADA
accommodations, paid family leave, disability, and other leave programs. Process employment verifications and employee documentation requests. Assist with payroll administration by reviewing employee data changes and ensuring accuracy of HR records. Prepare reports related to headcount, turnover, leave utilization, and other HR metrics. Draft employee communications, HR forms, and policy acknowledgments. Support annual HR processes, including performance evaluations, open enrollment, and compliance training initiatives. Assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and firm policies. Coordinate employee engagement initiatives, wellness programs, firm events, and recognition activities. Respond to employee inquiries and provide professional, timely customer service. Participate in HR projects and process improvement initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 2-5 years of Human Resources experience. Experience in onboarding, benefits administration, employee records management, leave administration, HR compliance, or payroll support. Strong understanding of HR best practices and employment law fundamentals. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams. Experience with HRIS systems preferred. The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate is highly organized, service-oriented, and proactive. They are comfortable managing multiple priorities, maintaining confidentiality, and building strong working relationships across all levels of the organization. Experience in a law firm or other professional services environment is a plus but not required.
Target Base Compensation Range:
$60,000 - $80,000 Please note that the stated salary range is an estimate and does not guarantee a specific offer. Actual compensation will be determined based on market location, as well as the candidate's experience, skills, and job-related qualifications. Base salary represents just one component of the comprehensive Total Rewards package offered by Kaufman Dolowich.
