Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Human Resources Generalist, HR Officer 3, for the Board of County Commissioners to support and strengthen comprehensive human resources functions within Butler County. This role is pivotal in driving strategic HR initiatives, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in talent acquisition, employee relations, and HR systems, bringing energy and proactive leadership to our HR team. What you'll do Assist in formalizing HR structure by revising policies and drafting procedures, guidelines, checklists, templates, workflows, and internal controls for recurring HR functions. Provide senior HR generalist support, in partnership with the HR Director, in employee relations, performance management, performance evaluations, workplace investigations, discipline, complex leave issues, and manager consultation. Support classification and compensation work, including updating position descriptions, reviewing pay actions, supporting job audits, and assisting with point factoring. Use Excel, reporting, and data-analysis skills to improve HR tracking, workflow visibility, compliance monitoring, and decision-making; HRIS implementation, optimization, or process-improvement experience is preferred. Support complex recruiting, onboarding, and hiring manager guidance, with a focus on building consistent selection and pre-employment processes through stay interviews. Develop and deliver practical HR training and guidance for supervisors, hiring managers, and other partners on HR processes, employment law, documentation, performance management, FMLA/ADA, interviewing, onboarding, discipline, and policy. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, public administration, or a related field, plus five years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred. Working knowledge of employment law; Ohio civil service; collective bargaining; labor relations; compensation and benefits; training; and HR administration. Ability to conduct interviews, investigations, interpret requirements, document findings, train others, and handle sensitive matters with sound judgment. Ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion. Preferred Skills and Experience Senior-level HR generalist experience, preferably in public sector, government, or another structured HR environment. Strong knowledge of employment law, labor relations, employee relations, performance management, leave administration, and HR compliance. Experience developing HR policies, procedures, forms, templates, training materials, workflows, or process improvements. Strong HRIS, Excel, Microsoft Office, reporting, and data-analysis skills; experience with UKG Dimensions or Pro, Munis, or HRIS implementation/optimization is a plus. Strong writing, project management, organization, and follow-through skills.
Pay:
$74,464.00 - $107,140.00 per year
