We provide civil legal assistance to low-income and marginalized individuals across 14 mid-Michigan counties from our offices in Flint and Saginaw.

To provide civil legal services to those who need it the most and have the least access. Position Overview The Human Resources Coordinator guides and manages the daily provision of human resources services for the law firm. A strong candidate will assist and advise the Executive Team on human resources issues. This position is situated within the Executive Team. The Human Resources Coordinator reports to the Executive Director, but is responsible for the daily human resources operations for the entire firm. This position requires exemplary and consistent time-management and organizational skills. LSEM is a fast-paced law firm and this position requires flexibility and adaptability to the scope of duties. Prior work in a law firm is desired, but is not required. Responsibilities
  • Know and implement compliance with federal and state employment-related laws.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through trainings, professional publications, and professional networks.
  • Participate in hiring and separation duties.
  • Perform onboarding and exit processes.
  • Custodian of formal Personnel files.
  • Participate in coaching, evaluation, and disciplinary efforts. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills
  • Exemplary communication skills, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness.
  • Proficiency learning software systems and navigating technology parameters.
  • Excellent customer-service demeanor and delivery.
  • Process management and system development capabilities.
Qualifications Human Resources certification or degree is required. Apprenticed-experience may be considered, but would require evidence-based verification, and candidate testing may be necessary. Salary and Benefits Salary is commensurate with experience.
