OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Coordinator - Benefits Focus will serve as the internal subject matter expert for employee benefits and will provide essential support relating to other non-benefits related HR functions. This role is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of benefits programs, including strategic planning, open enrollment, and ongoing administration, and requires the ability to effectively manage both complex systems and core administrative responsibilities in a collaborative environment. This is an onsite position based in Crystal City, Virginia , with a Monday through Friday schedule and the option to work remotely one day per month . No exceptions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the administration of all benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, and disability. Plan and execute the annual Open Enrollment process, including broker coordination, employee communications, and system updates. Ensure all plans comply with federal/state regulations (ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA). Handle filings and audits. Manage all benefits invoicing; audit monthly bills for accuracy, resolve discrepancies with carriers, and partner with Finance for reconciliation. Manage all FMLA and other authorized leaves as specified in USCRI's employee handbook Provide direct support to the HR Manager by assisting with special projects and policy updates relating to HR functions. Assist with job postings and leading onboarding/orientation for all new hires. Prepare personnel action forms, employee changes, and other documents pertaining to employment and respond to unemployment compensation claims and request for employment and pay information. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor. All of the above duties and responsibilities are essential job functions subject to reasonable accommodation. REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Human Resources Management, Nonprofit Management, Management or other related fields and at least two years of experience is preferred. Proficiency in ADP and advanced Excel skills. Strong Knowledge of employment -related laws FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, FCRA, IRCA, etc., and knowledge of benefits administration is required. Ability to practice discretion and maintain strict confidentiality and security of personnel files and information. Ability to prioritize workload, multitask and pay close attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize duties independently, think strategically, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well independently is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Exceptional time management and attention to detail. Must pass a criminal background and other screening. Ability to evaluate/interpret information and make good and independent judgements or decisions; and Demonstrated support of USCRI's values by exhibiting respect for others, maintaining confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory Completion of USCRI's Orientation and Training. Complete additional training as identified by supervisor or Human Resources
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity. Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands. Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying. Ability to remain calm and composed under stress; and Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
