To provide support for the School Administration and Workforce Development initiatives to ensure organizational goals are met to advance the Excel Center mission.
Function:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Workforce Development, the Workforce Development Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, tracking, and monitoring (CCR), credentialing, technical education and workforce development activities, with a focus on ensuring readiness and maintaining accountability metrics at the assigned school level. The WFDC will manage the transition process from student to graduate, while monitoring established goals and KPIs.
Essential Responsibilities:
Works closely with the Director of WFD to coordinate and manage CCR and workforce development initiatives at the school level. Management of CCTE and WFD accountability metric tracking tools. Provide one-on-one support to students throughout the college preparation process (which includes but is not limited to college search, application, and transition process). Identify and track student career clusters and preferred pathway to develop individualized graduate transition plans. Organize and facilitate information sessions and CCR events (which include but are not limited to certification enrollment, CCR day, college signing, college fairs, tours, scholarships, etc. to current students, teachers, and alumni). Maintain relationships and gather program feedback with current and graduate students through surveying, focus groups, and phone to support ongoing program initiatives. Assist with seeking out credentialing, internships, apprenticeships, scholarships and career opportunities for Excel Center students and graduates. Build relationships with external CCR and WFD partners (College Recruiters, Admission Counselors and employment partners). Recurring pulse of student certification and programs of interest. Co-facilitation of Senior Seminar to understand student employability, occupational and soft skill needs in preparation for successful pathway placement. Support and presenter of New Student Orientation. Additional responsibilities assigned by Director of Workforce Development.
Additional Duties:
Supports school culture, safety and enforcement of Code of Ethics, code rotation enforcement and on-call responsibilities as needed. Collaborate with Lead Teacher, CCR Instructors and WFD Coordinator on the co-facilitation of Senior Seminar. Collaborate with School Leadership and internal GECM and MGI business partners. Identify new sources of career/work related opportunities for program participants. Maintain track of student performance and placement opportunities for reporting purposes. Participate in school events, tours, workshops, conferences, and meetings with internal and external business partners and educational leaders to provide information on programs available. Additional responsibilities assigned by Director of Workforce Development.
Interpersonal Relations:
Maintains effective oral and written communication with internal and external business partners, employers, team leaders and students. Collaborates with and maintains strong relationships with internal departmental teams, team leaders, and school administration. Work closely with WFD-D and Core Leadership in the planning, development, and evaluation of the program to ensure program objectives are achieved. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy of data tracking, monitoring, and entering information. Ability to work independently and manage time in a high-energy work environment. Ability to analyze data for informed decision making initiative and self-direction. Ensures compliance with established school policies, WFD guides, training, and applicable labor laws. Attends and participate in networking and community engagement and outreach opportunities (as needed). Strong communicator at a variety of levels, demonstrating effective presentation skills. Attends departmental meetings and stays abreast of required training and professional development opportunities. The ability to effectively support individuals with various disabilities, personalities, and cultural backgrounds; experience working with at-risk and adult students.
Education/Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related field (required). Minimum of two years' experience working in a secondary or higher education setting, workforce development or career counseling. Attends and completes all required training components for CCR and Workforce Development. Ensures compliance with established school policies, WFD guides, training, and applicable labor laws. Strong communicator at a variety of levels, demonstrating effective presentation skills. Proficiency in PowerSchool, Google Classroom, Microsoft Office products and navigation of the various software.
Special Requirements:
Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekends.
Critical Performance Factors:
Postsecondary Placement 50% of Excel Center graduates will apply and be accepted for admission in a post-secondary school (college, trade school, or training programs) of choice. Employment Placement 30% of Excel Center graduates will be employed at a livable wage (above Federal minimum wage level) within 6 months of graduation. EPSO Rate 70% of Excel Center graduates will earn EPSO credits. TN Promise and Reconnect 50% of The Excel Center graduates who enter post-secondary school will have applied for the Tennessee Promise or TN Reconnect Scholarship. FAFSA Completion Rate 50% of eligible Excel Center graduates will complete the FAFSA by the deadline. Career Assessment 80% of Graduates will complete career assessments prior to or while enrolled in Senior Seminar course. Graduate Transition Plans 80% of Graduates will have individualized graduate transition plan.
