HR Clerk Legacy Home Health Agency - 3.2 McAllen, TX Job Details Full-time $18 - $21 an hour 23 hours ago Benefits Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description About the Role We are looking for an organized and motivated HR Clerk to help keep our growing workforce compliant and ready for success. In this role, you will manage employee documentation, maintain accurate records, and oversee the employee clearance process, ensuring all required documentation, credentials, and screenings are completed prior to an employee's first day. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will help keep our organization operating efficiently while providing a positive onboarding experience for new team members. What You'll Do Credentialing & Background Checks:
Run Texas DPS background checks, Employee Misconduct Registry (EMR) checks, Nurse Aide Registry (NAR) checks, and OIG exclusion checks for all new hires. Own the primary execution of reference checks for all applicants — initiate outreach, document conversations, and track automated reference responses. Ensure every completed file meets the agency's minimum reference requirements. Collect I-9s and tax forms, and ensure mandatory Texas personal care training certificates are properly filed. Enter new hires into the HRIS and assist with setting up employees in the system. Maintain digital and physical employee files. Track expiration dates for auto insurance, driver's licenses, and TB tests — and follow up before they lapse.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional HR or administrative coursework a plus Prior experience in HR support, data entry, or administrative roles (healthcare or home care experience preferred) Strong attention to detail — you catch what others miss Comfortable working with confidential information and strict deadlines Proficiency with HRIS systems, spreadsheets, and digital file management Excellent phone and written communication skills for reference outreach Ability to manage high volumes of paperwork across multiple locations without letting anything slip
