Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Unit Clerk assists in planning, implementing and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing station by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintains the physical environment of the area.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1.
High School Diploma or GED required. 2. Successful completion of the unit clerk course given at WNJ. 3. Attain and maintain BLS certification.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Answers and communicates central call system promptly. 2. Assists with orientation of new personnel. 3. Demonstrates appropriate responses to codes. 4. Assists in the control of unit budget. 5. Transcribes written forms and/or utilizes computer. 6. Maintains cost-effective use of supplies. 7. Maintain nursing station as to cleanliness and noise level. 8. Coordinates admission, discharge and transfer of patients on unit. 9. Maintain regular attendance 10. Performs other duties as assigned.
