Job Description

This position is responsible for ensuring accurate timekeeping for various long term leave options, initial inquiries from current employees, obtaining & processing submitted forms, all within current collective bargaining agreements and state and federal laws. This position also assists to recruit, onboard, and coordinate daily and long-term assignments of classified & certificated substitutes. The successful candidate will possess outstanding customer service skills; respond to inquiries in an accurate and timely manner; and has the ability to use multiple systems in a high-volume work environment. Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule during peak times of the year. Occasionally provides support to the Chief of Staff and Human Resources Administrators.

ASAP Benefits--Medical/Dental/Vision through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board) are provided for employees who work at least 630 hours per academic year. Additional benefits may include vacation, sick, personal days, and paid holidays. Often, positions have additional pay provisions above what is represented on the salary schedule, all in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) as negotiated.
SALARY :
Level 2 on the Professional/Technical Salary Schedule. Salary depends on experience in the same or similar position. Promotion or transfer placements will be determined by percentage of increase and consideration of appropriate experience credit.
DOWNLOAD SALARY SCHEDULE 1.
Maintain accurate spreadsheets and data for work sites and employees. Complete mathematical formulas and utilize HR/Payroll software to create and calculate retroactive pay, escrow pay, extracurricular pay, and supplemental pay. 2. Process leave requests in accordance with applicable district policy, state and federal regulatory requirements and collective bargaining agreement. Maintain accurate records of employee leaves and timekeeping. 3. Assist classified and certificated employees regarding health leaves, Family Medical Leave (FML), personal leave, maternity leave, educational leave, military leave, ADA and other leave accommodations. 4. Facilitate hiring process by conducting reference checks, and making job offers to prospective employees in accordance with laws, policy, and collective bargaining agreements. Provide related training to administrators and supervisors. 5. Facilitate the onboarding process for new classified and certificated employees and substitutes. Ensure completion of all new hire paperwork, security clearance, and legal documents. 6. Schedule new hire personnel for initial school district orientation. Provide initial support for new hires related to regulations and school district policy on continuing education as it applies to the position. 7. Help monitor and place substitutes through the substitute system and coordinate coverage when needed at school buildings. 8. Provide support to all staff and administrators related to human resources functions and tasks. Assist and cross-train with other employees in the department. 9. Maintain and update knowledge and skills required for success in the position by participating in professional development as needed or as assigned. 10. Participate in other related duties as assigned to support Human Resources and the staff of Spokane Public Schools. 1. Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed. 2. High school diploma or equivalent required. 3. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business, or closely related field, or equivalent work experience required. 4. Three (3) years of responsible Human Resources or related experience, preferably in a school district or Human Resources environment desired. Payroll/Human Resources systems experience desired. 5. Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources. 6. Knowledge of and ability to operate personal computers and automated human resource systems including related software applications associated with personnel management. 7. Ability to maintain accurate detailed records, organize data reports, and utilize mail-merge functions. 8. Skill in obtaining, clarifying, and exchanging information; both written and oral. 9. Skill in decision making and problem solving. 10. Skill in providing quality customer service. 11. Demonstrated ability to relate and work positively and effectively with a diverse group of teachers, community, and staff in a confidential manner. 12. Demonstrated ability to foster an environment that focuses on quality results while motivating, developing, and supporting a diverse staff, encouraging continuous improvement, and working effectively as a member of a diverse team. 13. Ability to concentrate on detail and be precise and accurate. 14. Ability to organize, prioritize, and prepare written procedures. 15. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. 16. Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines. 17. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Work Schedule - Days and hours (listed above) are subject to change depending on program and district needs. Stipends, Leave Accruals and Holidays - Stipends, leaves and paid holidays are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement Collective Bargaining Agreements as negotiated.

Employees can choose from a lifetime retirement pension plan or a hybrid pension and investment plan that contributes between 5% and 15% of wages to retirement. When employees meet plan requirements and retire, they are guaranteed a monthly benefit for the rest of their life from the employer-funded pension. Employees can also participate in voluntary savings programs to increase retirement savings such as the DRS Deferred Compensation Program or by participating in a 403(b) retirement plan through the District's plan manager, OMNI.
