Job Description

Position Overview:
The Unified School District of Antigo is seeking a professional, organized, and motivated Human Resources Assistant to join our administrative team. This position plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the Human Resources department and assisting with a variety of personnel-related functions. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Human Resources Specialist, district administrators, and staff to help ensure efficient and effective human resources services across the district.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources department under the direction of the Human Resources Specialist. Assist with recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes, including preparing materials, scheduling, and maintaining documentation. Maintain and update confidential employee records, personnel files, and human resources databases. Respond to routine inquiries from employees and the public regarding human resources policies, procedures, and employment-related matters. Assist with employee benefits, leave tracking, licensure documentation, and compliance-related activities. Provide backup support for payroll functions as needed, including filling in during payroll staff absences. Support the coordination of trainings, meetings, and professional development activities. Prepare correspondence, reports, and other documentation as needed. Maintain confidentiality of employee information in accordance with federal and state regulations. Attend professional development and training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with administrators, staff, and the public. Basic computer proficiency, including experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic record systems.
Preferred:
Previous administrative or human resources experience. Post-secondary coursework or degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. Experience working in a school district or public sector environment. Knowledge of basic employment practices and regulations.
