$85,000 - $105,000 per year, depending on experience About Water Heater Warehouse Water Heater Warehouse is a growing plumbing and water heating contractor based in Fullerton, California. We serve residential, commercial and public-sector customers throughout Southern California. As our company continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced, hands-on Human Resources Manager to oversee our HR operations and help us build the systems, policies and culture needed to support our next stage of growth. This is not a purely administrative HR position. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working directly with ownership, managers, office employees and field technicians and who understands the realities of managing employees in California. What You'll Be Responsible For The HR Manager will oversee the day-to-day human resources function for Water Heater Warehouse, including: Recruiting, interviewing and hiring employees New-hire onboarding and orientation Employee files and HR documentation Employee relations and workplace concerns Performance management and employee reviews Coaching managers on employee issues Disciplinary actions, write-ups and terminations Attendance and timekeeping policies California meal and rest period compliance Wage-and-hour compliance Leave of absence administration Workers' compensation coordination Workplace injury documentation and follow-up Employee handbook and company policy updates Training managers and supervisors on HR procedures Tracking employee certifications, licenses and required documentation Maintaining confidential personnel records Assisting with benefits administration Coordinating with payroll, insurance brokers, workers' compensation carriers and outside HR/legal resources Helping develop compensation structures and job descriptions Supporting company safety and Cal/OSHA compliance efforts Creating consistent HR procedures as the company continues to grow
What We're Looking For Required:
4+ years of Human Resources experience Strong working knowledge of California employment laws and HR practices Experience handling employee relations and disciplinary matters Experience with recruiting and onboarding Strong organizational and documentation skills Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information Excellent written and verbal communication skills Comfortable working directly with company ownership and management Able to work independently and take ownership of the HR department
Preferred:
Previous HR Manager or HR Generalist experience Experience with plumbing, HVAC, construction, home services or another field-service business Experience managing HR for both field and office employees PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or
SHRM-SCP
