This is a 100% execution-focused role that combines frontline employee relations, strict California compliance management, and rigorous corporate immigration tracking. As the primary on-the-ground HR owner in the US, you will serve as the main operational link between our local team and our China-based HR shared services team. Key Responsibilities People Operations & Compliance:
Manage the entire end-to-end employee lifecycle. Execute onboarding, offboarding, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and terminations. Act as the primary point of contact for daily employee relations and compliance enforcement.
Immigration & Visa Management:
Monitor employee work authorizations (including
H-1B, OPT, CPT
). Maintain databases, proactively manage visa renewal timelines, and coordinate directly with external immigration attorneys.
Cross-Border Payroll & Administration:
Act as the operational bridge with our China-based payroll execution team. Gather accurate HR data, track headcount changes, and perform monthly payroll reconciliations.
Manager & Employee Support:
Provide practical guidance to managers on handling compliance, delivering feedback, and documenting performance according to US and California labor laws.
HR Logistics:
Maintain accurate digital employee files, ensure precise data entry in HR systems, and handle administrative HR requests from both the local team and global headquarters. Job Requirements (Minimum Qualifications)
Experience:
3 to 5+ years of hands-on HR Generalist or People Operations experience in the United States.
Labor Law Expertise:
Deep, practical knowledge of US Federal and State labor regulations. Direct experience with California labor law is strictly required.
Immigration Experience:
Proven experience tracking and coordinating work visas (H-1B, OPT, CPT) directly with external legal counsel.
Language Proficiency:
Professional fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken) is required for daily cross-border communication.
Work Style:
High autonomy, strong troubleshooting skills, and a strong preference for day-to-day operational execution. Preferred Qualifications SHRM-CP or PHR certification. Experience in technology, high-growth startups, or multinational corporate environments.
