The position will have significant responsibility for employee relations, investigations, performance management, recruiting and retention, leave administration, workers' compensation, training, compliance, and HR staff development.
Responsibilities:
Partner with the Director of Human Resources in implementing HR strategies, policies, programs, and organizational initiatives. Manage day-to-day HR operations for organization and provide guidance to managers and supervisors regarding employee relations and employment practices. Counsel management regarding performance concerns, attendance, disciplinary actions, corrective action plans, performance improvement plans, and terminations. Conduct and document workplace investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, employee misconduct, policy violations, and other employee complaints. Ensure corrective actions and employment decisions are appropriately documented, fact-based, consistent, and reviewed for compliance. Maintain working knowledge of California and federal employment requirements, including wage-and-hour requirements, meal and rest periods, protected leaves, reasonable accommodation, discrimination and harassment prevention, and record-keeping requirements. Administer and coordinate leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, Pregnancy Disability Leave, reasonable accommodation/interactive process matters, and other applicable leaves. Support workers' compensation administration, including reporting injuries, coordinating with carriers and managers, monitoring claims, and facilitating return-to-work or modified-duty arrangements. Oversee recruiting and staffing activities, including workforce planning, requisition management, candidate selection, on-boarding, and retention initiatives. Partner with management regarding compensation recommendations, promotions, transfers, organizational changes, and workforce planning. Coordinate performance management programs, including introductory period reviews, annual performance reviews, goal setting, merit recommendations, and performance improvement plans. Assist with benefits administration, open enrollment, employee communications, new hire employee benefit orientations and questions. Support payroll and timekeeping administration and investigate discrepancies involving time records, attendance, vacation, sick pay, and payroll. Monitor HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, time-to-fill, retention, workers' compensation activity, and other key performance indicators. Assist with employee training and management development programs, including harassment prevention, supervisory training, policy compliance, and performance management. Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and ensure appropriate retention of HR documentation. Supervise, coach, and develop assigned Human Resources staff and establish appropriate workflow, accountability, and performance expectations. Provide HR support to other Company locations or business units as needed. Participate in special projects, audits, compliance reviews, and organizational initiatives as assigned by the Director of Human Resources. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
5+ years of human resources management experience Substantial knowledge of California employment law Demonstrated experience handling employee relations, workplace investigations, corrective actions, performance management, leave administration, workers compensation, recruiting and HR compliance Bilingual in
Spanish Preferred:
Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Management or similar PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or PHRca certification Experience working within the manufacturing or industrial operations industries Experience with ADP or similar HRIS/payroll platform
Pay:
$115,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
