About the Role We are looking for an experienced HR Director to lead the human resources function across VBA and ELEVE Health, and to serve as a strategic partner to the executive team. This role owns everything from policy and compliance to culture and workforce planning. You'll build the infrastructure that lets our people — and our businesses — grow together, while navigating the operational realities of supporting two distinct organizations under one HR function. This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll set strategy and you'll also do the work. You'll report to the President and work directly with the Vice Presidents across operations and sales. What You'll Do Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement company-wide HR policies, programs, and procedures
- Advise executives and managers on employee relations, performance, staffing, compensation, and organizational issues
- Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational structure
- Support executives through organizational changes, restructuring, and growth initiatives
- Manage HR staff and establish department goals and priorities Talent & Development
- Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations
- Build performance-management and employee-development programs
- Oversee training, leadership development, and succession planning
- Develop strategies for employee retention and workplace culture Operations & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, California state, and local employment laws
- Manage employee relations issues, investigations, complaints, and conflict resolution
- Oversee compensation, benefits, payroll-related HR processes, and leave administration
- Maintain employee records, HR systems, policies, and required documentation
- Manage HR-related risk with appropriate documentation and procedures
- Analyze turnover, compensation, staffing, engagement, and other HR metrics What We're Looking For
- 7-10+ years of progressive HR experience, including several years in a management or leadership role
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field (substantial HR leadership experience may substitute)
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements, including California-specific wage-and-hour, leave, and pay-transparency obligations
- Proven judgment handling sensitive employee relations matters and workplace investigations
- Comfort using HR data to inform decisions and advise executives
- Ability to move between distinct business cultures and operating models without losing consistency in policy and practice Preferred
- SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP or
PHR / SPHR
certification
- Experience supporting multiple entities, business units, or a multi-state workforce
- Background in benefits, insurance, healthcare, or health technology
